King of Kings

Why is Jesus called the King of Kings?  I used to think that it was because He is the ultimate King.  And that's true, He is that.  But now I see it's more than that.  Consider these scriptures:

2 Timothy 2:11 It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him; 12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us; 13If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

Hebrews 2:7 "YOU HAVE MADE HIM FOR A LITTLE WHILE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS; YOU HAVE CROWNED HIM WITH GLORY AND HONOR, AND HAVE APPOINTED HIM OVER THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS; 8YOU HAVE PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET." For in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him.

Now, we know and understand that Jesus has given us all authority.  But did we understand that this makes us kings?  When we enter into Christ, we become kings.  We were remade in order to subdue the earth; to bring all things into subjection.

So, we're kings.  What does that have to do with Jesus?  Well, we are kings and He is our King.  Consider how we refer to royal people today in a worldly sense.  We call them, "The King of Brittain" or "The King of Sweden".  That's their title.  The people they rule over are a part of their heritage and their domain.  What is Jesus' inheritance and domain?  Us.  A bunch of kings.  His domain consists of Kings.  The title King of Kings is as accurate as it is appropriate.

Yes, The Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in The Holy Spirit.  But where does the Holy Spirit dwell?  By what vehicle does Holy Spirit express righteousness, peace, and joy?  The Kings.  Holy Spirit in me makes me a king.  I reign in life because of His indwelling presence.  And Jesus is my King.
